My vacation back in February was pretty amazing. Alex and I went to Australia for 5 days and then to New Zealand for 9 days and then Malaysia for a night as well. We stayed in Melbourne in Australia and I really liked that city, a lot! It has this sort've trendy, hipster feeling. There were a lot of people but not too many that made me feel squished or cramped, so that was great. We ate crocodile, rabbit AND kangaroo while we were there, and let me tell you, that crocodile was actually REALLY good! The kangaroo was REALLY bloody, like, super rare. And I didn't like that at all, because even our veggies that came with the meal were covered in blood and that just grossed me out. The kangaroo also had no flavor at all, which was a bit weird and made it taste really bland. We went to Tasmania as well, which was beautiful. I felt really, really free driving in Tasmania because there are like, no people whatsoever (but about a bajillion bees!). It was actually pretty amazing just driving and listening to the cd's we made, singing and talking and looking out the window and feeling the wind in my hair. It was pretty great. There was this awesome raspberry cafe that we went to that had all raspberry desserts. We got two (of course!) and shared, and mm mmm. I don't even like raspberry's that much, they are like Alex's fav though but I still really enjoyed the desserts.

The great ocean road was one of the most amazing things ever. It's just this crazy long road that drives along the coast and after about 4 hours (from Melbourne) you reach the 12 apostles. It was a pretty awesome thing to see and the weather was great. Alex and I also got to talk a lot on that drive, which was really great. Sometimes, when you see someone so much, it just becomes so normal. We're like people who've been married for 10 years. We see each other every day, but there's always more to learn and know about other people, so the conversations we had during our trip meant a lot to me because somehow, it brought us even closer, if that's even possible.

| Melbourne... what is up with my eyes? Ha. Guess it was the sun... |
After Australia and Tasmania we went to New Zealand.. but since I don't have pictures of that to put up yet I'll talk about that in the next post.
As for what's new, oh, you know... everything. My entire life focus has been on the gym right now. Nothing else really matters to me other than eating right and the gym. I've made so much progress I don't think I could ever turn back to my old unhealthy lifestyle. I know I'm going to keep making mistakes along the way, and if you eat a cheesesteak in front of me, there's a major possibility I'll have one too. But all in all, I'm pretty amazed at myself. Who ever knew I had it in me? After so many years (ugh, so so so many years) that I've talked about losing weight I'm finally doing it.
Currently, I've lost 42 lbs since I left the USA July 22nd of last year. I have a MAJOR goal to reach 100lbs lost by July 30th (the date I'll most likely be flying back to the USA for a visit). I'm working harder than ever, going to the gym 5/6 days a week and running myself into the ground. Even if I don't reach my goal on that particular day, I know I've made major changes in my life and eventually, the weight will come off and one day, one amazing, amazing day, I'll reach my final goal weight and all the hard work I've put in will pay off.
To be honest, there's no way I could do this by myself. Alex and my close friend Mike that lives in our apartment building have been amazingly inspiring. Mike goes to the gym with me every day, because he's a gym dude. And Alex wakes up earlier than she has to every day to walk with me to school (otherwise I'd absolutely take the bus because I HATE walking up the crazy hill to school and let's be real people, I'm NOT a morning person so my excuses to avoid movement run rampt in the morning). And you all know Alex isn't a morning person either, so it's pretty amazing she does that for me. Both of them are hardcore looking out for me and making sure I stay on task, and that accountability has helped a lot. But even now, in secret, I'm still making the better choices. That's actually how I know I'm in this for the long haul (and by long haul I mean, forever).
Ok- So I'll tell you all about New Zealand very soon!!!!!!!!! :)
Till then... I gotta keep running... running as fast as I can to reach my goal.
